About us

North 54 is a love letter to Chef Bac Pham’s family and heritage. The name pays tribute to his grandparents on his mum’s side, who fled from North to South Vietnam in 1954 during the war. Bac means “north” in Vietnamese, and in the south, people often refer to those who made the move as “Bắc ’54”.

At the heart of North 54 are the recipes and traditions passed down from his mother, Nga Nguyen, shaped by years of family dinners and shared meals.

North 54 serves family and culture authentically but not traditionally. Expect Vietnamese street foods reimagined with bold flavours and fresh takes.

Pham started his apprenticeship at Crown Perth before honing his skills at Petition Kitchen and Vinotto Wine Bar. Over the years, he built North 54 through a run of pop ups and residencies across Perth, including Doubleview Bowls Club, Arrival Hall, Beaconsfield Wine Bar and Patio in Fremantle.

Now in its first permanent home on Oxford Street in Leederville, North 54 brings it all together. Serving not-so traditional bánh mì, rice and noodle bowls during the day, and twists on traditional Vietnamese fare for dinner on the weekends.
